"Svend" (svend)

If anyone is bored on needs something to watch and likes a detective series with subtle humour, Italian cars and beautiful Italian scenery but with out having to read subtitles.
Check out Zen on Netflix. It's humorous without being ostensibly funny, dramatic without being overdone and cliche.
It is a three episode series that brings some great scenery, cars, acting and production together.
Regretfully it was cancelled in it's prime of life.
Best line ever:
Tania: "I really want to have sex with you!"
Zen: "Thank you, that's very kind of you.".

I was gutted when I got to episode 3 and found that's all there was. It's superb.

I too was gutted. There has been some amazing BBC tv programmes that get cut short because the BBC were trying to 'streamline' the business and make 'every penny count' in tv production.

I believe the BBC decided they had too many programmes with middle class white people in them and so something had to go.

The viewing audience for these programmes was deemed too small and not a suitable investment.
I'm surprised Death in Paradise has been on so long as it's almost a Caribbean island version of Zen.
Saying that I do really love Death in Paradise.

I enjoyed that when it was on. Thanks for heads up, certainly worth a re-watch!

Oddly enough they still do Wallander on BBC4 and it must cost a fortune. Ken Branagh and Sweden don't come cheap! I think the first series cost £7m.

It really is. I've been watching episode one and two with a nice bottle of champagne (because why not) and just about to watch episode three.
It's a hard life but someone has to do it. :)

I've never watched Wallander but from the bits I've seen is it not a Swedish production that the BBC has bought the rights to air in the U.K.
The series The Tunnel was pretty much a French/British copy of the Danish/Swedish series The Bridge.

There've been several Wallanders, the Swedish originals with at least two actors playing the lead, both shown on BBC4 på Svenska with subtitles and the Branagh one which is in English. They're all made in the area of Sweden where they're set. There was one occasion where both English and Swedish productions were filming at the same time on the same railway platform.

Sounds interesting. I may have to check it out sometime properly.
